Terms of Service
Plain English summary: Use EpicViz for legitimate work purposes. Don't try to abuse or reverse-engineer it. We provide the service as-is — AI-generated diagrams are a starting point, not authoritative documentation. Billing goes through Atlassian Marketplace. If something isn't working, contact us.
1. Acceptance of terms
By installing or using EpicViz for Jira ("EpicViz", "the App", "the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") on behalf of yourself and the organization whose Atlassian account you are using. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the App.
These Terms apply alongside Atlassian's own Customer Agreement and Marketplace terms, which govern the underlying Jira platform and billing.
2. Description of the Service
EpicViz is a Jira app that automatically generates architecture diagrams — including flowcharts, C4 context diagrams, C4 container diagrams, and sequence diagrams — from Jira epic and child issue data. It runs on Atlassian Forge and uses Atlassian-hosted AI to produce diagram output.
EpicViz is a productivity and documentation aid. Diagrams generated by the App are AI-produced and intended as a starting point for team review — they do not constitute authoritative technical documentation.
3. License
Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of applicable subscription fees, Chris Castle, Inc grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use EpicViz within your Atlassian organization for your internal business purposes.
You may not:
- Sublicense, resell, or redistribute the App or its output as a standalone product
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App
- Use the App to build a competing product or service
- Use the App in any way that violates applicable law or Atlassian's Marketplace terms
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits, license checks, or tier restrictions
4. Subscription and billing
EpicViz subscriptions are purchased and managed through the Atlassian Marketplace. Chris Castle, Inc does not process payments directly. All billing, invoicing, refunds, and subscription management are handled by Atlassian in accordance with their Marketplace terms.
Subscription tiers and features are as described on the EpicViz pricing page and the Atlassian Marketplace listing at the time of purchase. Features may be added or modified with reasonable notice.
Free tier usage is subject to the limits described on the pricing page. Exceeding those limits may result in restricted access until the next billing cycle.
5. AI-generated content
EpicViz uses AI to generate diagrams from your Jira data. By using the App, you acknowledge that:
- AI-generated diagrams may contain inaccuracies, omissions, or misrepresentations of your system architecture
- Diagrams should be reviewed by qualified team members before being used for technical decision-making or shared externally
- Chris Castle, Inc makes no warranty that AI output will be accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose
- You are responsible for the use and distribution of any diagrams generated by the App
6. Your data
You retain all ownership of your Jira data. EpicViz accesses your Jira data solely to generate diagrams as directed by you and does not claim any rights over it. Our data handling practices are described in full in the Privacy Policy.
You represent that you have the right and authority to allow EpicViz to access the Jira data it reads, and that doing so does not violate any agreement or obligation you have with a third party.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use EpicViz to:
- Generate diagrams containing content that is illegal, harmful, or violates the rights of others
- Attempt to extract, scrape, or systematically query the App beyond normal use
- Introduce malicious code, interfere with the App's operation, or disrupt other users
- Misrepresent AI-generated diagrams as human-authored technical documentation without appropriate review
8. Intellectual property
EpicViz, its name, logo, and underlying code are the intellectual property of Chris Castle, Inc. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of any intellectual property to you.
Diagrams generated by EpicViz using your Jira data are yours. Chris Castle, Inc claims no ownership over the output diagrams produced from your data.
9. Disclaimers
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated output will be accurate. Availability of the App is subject to Atlassian Forge platform uptime, which is outside our control.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Chris Castle, Inc and its officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App — including damages arising from reliance on AI-generated diagram output.
Our total cumulative liability to you for any claims arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the three months preceding the claim.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Chris Castle, Inc from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of EpicViz in violation of these Terms, your violation of applicable law, or your infringement of any third-party rights.
12. Termination
You may stop using EpicViz and cancel your subscription at any time through the Atlassian Marketplace billing dashboard.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to EpicViz if you materially breach these Terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the breach. Atlassian may also terminate or suspend access in accordance with their platform terms.
Upon termination, your license to use the App ends. Because EpicViz does not store your data, there is nothing to delete on our end.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will provide at least 30 days' notice via the Atlassian Marketplace listing or by email to your billing contact. Continued use of EpicViz after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction in California.
